30th Anniversary Party

20th May 2017 saw North Kent Embroiderers' Guild celebrate their 30th Anniversary.

An exhibition had been held the previous week at St Andrews Centre, Gravesend, and below are some of the exhibits.


This photograph shows a small section of the project we are doing at present - 70273 project - to commemorate those people who were murdered by the Nazis. This will eventually become a quilt, measuring 5' x 8' and will be hung along with 11 others in Rochester Cathedral in January 2108.
     
This is called 'The Cardinal Quilt' because the birds featured are cardinals - an American bird This piece of embroidery has no name but is worked by Gill Cox. Here is a small selection of pieces of work that were viewed at the exhibition
This is a Blackwork Lace cover. It is worked in Blackwork and contains names of all the various forms of lace Orange and white Hardanger - this was made during the 97 Group classes. The infamous 'Travelling Books'. Click here to find out more about them!

Lunchtime and members helping themselves to the 'bring and share' buffet! I won't say silence reigned because members had lots ot catch up on. Same again here, much chat!
