Here are a few photos of the bag I made as a result of the Fay Maxwell day school last year. The inspiration for the design came from seeing a fruit seller in the middle of Istanbul. I was struck by the beautiful patterns that the grapefruit, pomegranates, oranges and so on, formed on his stall.

The panel was made from blanket felt appliquéd onto a silk backing which I then stitched onto a bag I made. There is a wide variety of stitches used and I chose these as I went along. Most of the work is done using tapestry wool or perlé thread. I also added a few beads.
This is a close up of the bag.
