97 Stitching Group
In 1997 some members of the North Kent Embroiderers’ Guild decided to form a stitching together group which would run in addition to branch meetings. In May that year several members met and formed what is now the 97 Stitching Group. We stitch together on Saturday mornings before the main branch meeting in the same venue.
Sometimes there is a specific project to take part in, for example, “100 Hearts” which was a national challenge to commemorate the end of WW1 and which went on display at the Alexandra Palace in London. At other times we have learnt new embroidery stitches and techniques and therefore it is a teaching forum. Members who would like to be part of the 97 Group but who don’t wish to participate in the group activity, are welcome to bring along their own embroidery. You can be assured that there is plenty of fun, laughter and chatter. Stitching together is fun.
Fee: There is a fee for kits which depends on which form of embroidery we are learning but full membership to North Kent Embroiderers’ Guild automatically includes membership to the 97 Group.
Time: 11.00am – 1.00pm
Venue: The Community Room, Gravesend Library, Windmill Street, Gravesend DA12 1BE
