Show and Tell
During the pandemic our members kept in touch with each other by seeing what kind of stitching we were all doing- a kind of virtual ‘Show and Tell’. The idea was to share ‘work in progress’ as well as finished pieces.
You can also see some of the pieces completed as part of the challenge ‘In spite of Covid-19 we continue to stitch’

Sue D says “I found a Facebook page called ‘A Steady Threads Botanical Sew Along’. They send out a flower of the month and one or two seasonal flowers each month.”
Karen says… “I was given this little bag on a trip to India in January 2020. During a workshop there I block printed the back of it and now I am busy using this image as a basis for some stitching. It isn’t easy stitching on a made up bag!”
Here is my cross stitch sampler, says Veronica “I offered to do this for someone and when I said I would do a cross stitch sampler, I didn’t really think how many different types of cross stitch there are!!
There are ten here on my photograph and I won’t list them all, but the samples range from cross stitch and alternate cross stitch to plaited Gobelin stitch and rice stitch. The threads used also vary – from variegated quilting thread to Perlé 5 and the fabric used is something like 22 threads per inch so quite fine.”
Veronica’s second piece, is a card which she says “I have sent to my granddaughter and her husband as they are both doctors working in intensive care in a hospital in North Wales. The pattern was in an email I received (a free download from Dandelion Designs) and I traced it onto calico, worked the picture in back stitch using one strand of blue Danish Flower thread as the NHS is blue. My GP has also received one because I think that the NHS staff, plus many others are doing a fantastic job in extremely difficult circumstances!!”
Josie says: “This is a quilt that I have just completed for my granddaughter. We had planned to take it to Canada for her first birthday but that is now going to have to wait.
I have chosen the bright colours to suit her sunny personality. It is a simple design of squares and borders with appliquéd flowers and butterflies. I have hand quilted it in the seams.”
